I will help the citizens of Multnomah County by respecting all thoughtful ideas, by actively encouraging input and listening to people, and by promoting the following agenda:

Environmental Leadership Initiative

• Promote solar and wind power generation from all buildings by creating energy credits for adding electric power to the system
• All new county vehicles hybrid or greener
• Increase public transport by fare reduction
• Consider weight-based vehicle tax
• Reward non-motorized transport:  biking, skating, pedestrian

Commercial, Industrial, and Business Property Owners Pay Fair Share of Property Taxes

• More resources for commercial appraisal
• Increased emphasis on appraiser training
• Increased number of appraiser job classifications
• Improved collaboration with cities, internal staff
• Promote change in property tax law to create fairness

Reinvigorate Citizen Involvement Committee

• Unlock the door by adding one staff member
• Become single point of contact for all county volunteeers
• Create volunteer database

Act to Build Community

• Initiate Senior Citizens in Schools Program
• Expand SUN schools
• Traveling and evening Commission meetings

Strengths Based Management for the County

• Open recruitment for all positions
• Management by talented managers/communicators/coaches
• Wider pay ranges for staff, with potential to exceed management pay range
• Active solicitation for improved organization and practice
• Identify employee talents, work to employee strengths

Open Wapato and Increase Acute Mental Health Care Facilities

• Rent space to State and other jurisdications
• Allocate savings from improved management
